WHERE DO MIGHTY MEN COME FROM WHERE DO MIGHTY MEN COME FROM

2Sa 23:8  These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

They come from the womb of discontentment when the seed of distress penetrates the egg of debt.

1Sa 22:2  And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

They are delivered by a Captain who was born of similar circumstances who has grown strong from out of these impoverished circumstances through his own encouragement and the strengthening of others before him.

1Sa 30:6  And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

1Sa 23:16  And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

Future mighty men are then nurtured upon the teats of example until weaned unto the meats of instruction.

2Sa 5:2  Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

2Sa 1:18  (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

Mighty men grow thereby to serve their Captain with loyalty and devotion even to the jeopardy of their own lives, and are fulfilled when their Captain wins the throne.

1Ch 11:19  And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

2Sa 2:4  And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

Mighty men play the men for others and for their Lord to the abandonment of their own personal comfort and ambitions and usually die in obscurity.

2Sa 10:12  Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.
