SWAT REPORT # 140

Matthew 8:20
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

HOVEL OF HOVELS

I was walking and tracting on a cold, March day about two weeks ago. I was gingerly making my way down a steep hill covered with snow and ice. I noticed an old woman walking 20 ft. in front of me and she seemed to be much more sure footed than I was; maybe she had just traveled that road so many more times than I. In my peripheral vision I took slight notice of what my subconscious recorded as construction scrap possibly left over from a large construction sight nearby. I overtook the woman and handed her a tract just as she turned into the gate inclosing that scrap pile. One word on the gate clearly said, "Blind". See photo 140.01. I wondered briefly but went on with my mail slot distribution until my conscious thought caught up with me. I walked back and noticed in the side of that pile was a piece of dirty window glass where some dim light was visible. See photo 140.03. Upon full observation this pile of construction scrap was an actual dwelling place for human habitation. See photo 140.02 and 140.04. In all my journey on this terrestrial ball I have never observed a worse image of a dwelling place. I have seen cardboard shacks in Mexico from a distance. I have seen abject poverty dwellings on stilts over Manila Bay in the Philippines. I have even seen something close to the image in the remote hills of West Virginia. But this one could hardly be distinguished from a pile of construction scrap yet to be burned. I know from the verse above that Jesus had no place to lay his head. He often resorted to the Mt. of Olives when all others went to their homes. I suppose that we mortals would prefer a scrap hovel than homelessness.

This past Sunday evening I opened it up for testimonies. I gave a list to pick from… "You may tell us of your salvation…an answer to prayer…something you found in your Bible lately…or something good the Lord has done for you recently. We had four out of the twenty to testify and all were good but three of those four were mature men who told detailed accounts of their strong, uncompromising witness to close family members. WOW. What a blessing! I have been part of many churches in America but I don't remember the equal in percentage of mature, active, faithful witnesses. We praise the good Lord for the Christians He has given us and the opportunity to train, lead, and be part of their witness here on the eastern front.

In photos 140.05 and 140.06 we are getting this great prison tract translated into Romanian in eager anticipation of our soon-to-start ministry in the prisons here. We must have a meeting on April 15th with the other churches who also minister in the prison and get organized as to times, room assignments and general instructions. We are very happy for this new opportunity…please pray with us that we might be partakers of some of these last days gleanings.

Finally, FINALLY, FINALLY spring has arrived. In photo 140-07 you can see the shepherd and his flock of goats filling their belly with the rich grass which has been nourished from a long winter. We have hardly seen the ground since before Christmas. This photos was taken from my second story family room.

Would love to hear from all of you…either email gsutek@streetpreaching.com or phone from USA 011-40-374-003-953
