SWAT REPORT # 126

Acts 2:8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The good Lord really did something in Genesis 11 when He confounded the languages all over the earth.  Science has never been able to explain it and we have been grappling with it now for nearly six millenniums.

We just arrived back from two weeks preaching in Germany and Holland.  I leave again on the 28th for a week in Ukraine.  We minister in eastern and western Europe where exists many countries with nearly as many languages.  Without the gift of tongues it is a long slow process to get the gospel past this barrier.   I don’t have all the answers but I might have one.  Some wise man once said, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”  With this idea in mind the Lord has allowed one of our men who is an artist along with myself to collaborate in making a WORDLESS BANNER and matching tract.  We are in hopes that this banner will transcend the language barrier and allow virtually anyone in the world to receive the gospel message.  It is being produced as I write this and will be tested this coming weekend when I take some of our preachers on a trip to Kiev, Ukraine to preach along with the preachers in the ministry of veteran missionary Perry Demopolis.  Not only can the attractive banner be studied on the street but the people will receive an exact copy in hand to further study later.  This may not be of much use in USA or in any single country where one language is prevalent but in a multi-cultural society like we minister in I believe this will be of great value.  You can see this banner in Photo # 126.09.  Comments are always appreciated.

In Photo # 126.01 German military missionary Troy Green preaches with  me in Maastricht, Holland along with another German missionary Gary Lutrick in Photo # 126.02.  Several thousand   shoppers and  tourists heard the Word in English and German and between these two languages everyone understood.  We enjoyed total freedom to sing and preach and the people were largely positive in their response.  In these last days opportunities to minister like this one is very enjoyable.  I preached a half-week meeting for my good friend Troy Green and his church there in Germany.

In Photos # 126.03 Mary Bethany poses with her friend Johanna Weimer in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin, Germany.  Any amateur student of history will remember that this building played an important part in Hitler’s takeover of Germany back in the early 1930’s.  This building presently houses the central government of today’s Germany and attracts hoards of tourists.  In Photo # 126.04 I am preaching to several hundred visitors.  In Photo # 126.05 I am preaching to many more waiting in line.  Photo # 126.06 shows veteran missionary Rick Weimer preaching to more visitors at the Reichstag building and Photo # 126.07 captures my personal witness to a group of visitors who spoke English.  Being an amateur history buff myself it was a great opportunity to bring the gospel to such an historic place.  I preached the weekend for Bro. Weimer and  enjoyed the greatest of fellowship with his family and church.

In Photo # 126.08 you can see our college and career group on an outing.  They are always faithful to put out the Word wherever they go.   Pray for these young people, they are very zealous for the Lord but face a world that is very zealous for evil.

Please pray for my trip to Ukraine this coming week.  I will give you a report when I return.
