Phi 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
For many weeks I have been teaching through Philippians in my all-Gypsy Bible study in the little village of Budila. I am battling several generations of mindset which is very contrary to the mind of Christ Jesus. Tonight will be my last lesson and I am aiming at the 4th chapter where Paul mentions being content. I teach in an old, small, cheaply built room of a house of the same description. Only the poor Appalachian people of America could relate to this kind of poverty. Tonight I will show them pictures of poverty I have seen in the Philippines, which is worse than their poverty, to teach them that when we compare ourselves among ourselves there is never any satisfaction. I will show them a photo of Bill Gates house on Lake Washington and prove that in comparison to him I am poor and yet I am content. I will show them the photo of the first day of the SWAT TEAM some 20 years ago last month when we were living in tents yet content. Now we have a very comfortable home and are content. Hopefully, I will be able to convince them that anyone can be content in any circumstance, if you change your mind and become content in Christ.

The good Lord has blessed us with a number of college students. Brasov hosts Transylvanian University with 17,000 students. They generally fit the stereotype of college students everywhere but we have 7 which have broken the mold and have become faithful to our church. They show GREAT interest in the things of the Lord and even the service of the Lord, and even street meetings, and even possibly Bible Institute. We are truly rejoicing over this blessing. And speaking of street meetings we had 8 men with us on last Fridays publick meeting along with a proper ratio of women and children. We present quite an unorthodox force for the Lord against a nation that is more than 95% Orthodox (Eastern Catholic).
Racos is a village a bit more than an hours drive from Brasov. We started a church there soon after we arrived in Romania. Chuck Zander came from USA to help us with this work. Racos had an attendance of 32 this past Sunday. The Zanders have done a great job in building both the attendance as well as the physical facilities in that small, mostly Gypsy village. We rejoice with the Zanders in the success of this work of the Lord.
In the tiny village of Harmon where our church is currently located we held a publick meeting in the center, by faith, while others went house to house. I say "by faith" because there are bursts of activity in this center like when the bus from Brasov pull in and 15 people get out. or when two cars and a large truck happen to enter the intersection and the same time that a mother and daughter are crossing the street going home from the general store. After Sergiu preached I spoke in his ear, "If you can preach with heart to nobody...you can preach to everybody." He quickly corrected me, "I didn't preach to "nobody." He then informed me that behind the bus shelter was a small bar where there were upwards to twenty men enjoying their liquid sin but well within earshot of our preaching. This remined me of a multitude of small towns in America where I have instructed the faithful local pastor to remain faithful to publick ministry even if "nobody" was visible. Many years ago I heard a faithful publick minister say on a similar occassion when asked why he was preaching when nobody was visible he simply responded, "Because God likes it." 1Cor. 1:21...it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. The good Lord always blesses faithfulness.
