May-June 2005 Newsletter
"My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my
love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice
of the turtle is heard in our land;
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good
smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away."
Song of Solomon 2:10-13
EVEN SO COME LORD JESUS
It is thought by many that because of
the beautifully, descriptive words above that the Lord will come for His bride in the
month of May. I look for the Lord to come everyday, but I cannot deny that each and
every time May comes around I get just a bit more anxious. It seems I work a bit
harder but with my head in the air with great expectation. Well
He did not come
back this year in May
but He could have
and if He had, would you have been
ready?
I
mentioned the beginning of our work in Racos village in the last newsletter. What a
thrill to see those Gypsies come walking behind you when you come through their community
playing the accordion. We have had several saved there and we now have two weekly
services every Saturday. They still gather behind the accordion and we journey
together through their part of the village and folks gather, sometimes 25, sometimes 50,
and we preach the Word of God to them. We are praying and looking eagerly toward having a
building where they can come together like a real church. There is a group of them
(6-10) who make the great effort to ride two hours on the train in order that they may be
in our services on Sunday morning in Brasov. There is a very severe cultural and
ethnic rub between regular Romanian people and Gypsies. The two DO NO MIX. But our
church has been successful in integrating these two enemy cultures as any Bible
believing church should. The Gypsies that come are completely accepted in every way.
We praise the Lord for this. Some of our regular folk have had the Gypsies
into their home for meals but the people in their block (the communist, commune, high
rise) have greatly objected to them inviting Gypsies into their block. Oh,
dont be so pious
folks in America are just as scared to mix certain
cultures. There is nothing new under the sun. Several of these Gypsies who
come to our church have been saved right in our church and our people have assisted in
leading them to the Lord. What a blessing to see that in Christ there is neither
Gypsy nor Romanian. Our men are now preaching to these Gypsies when we go to Racos.
What a blessing to bridge this cultural gap in the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for our
ministry in Racos village. Photos of this are on the web site www.streetpreaching.com
and regular SWAT REPORTS available via email along with photos for all who
may be able and are interested.
BIG MEETING IN JULY
We are assisting Bro. Logan in a HUGE effort to evangelize our city of Brasov. He has rented the Dramatic Theatre in the center of the city which seats 800. We are making every effort to fill this auditorium to capacity. A Romanian Bible has been promised to all who attend, advertising will appear in the newspaper, on radio, on banners, on sandwich signs, and on hand bills. We have 20 helpers coming from Bro. Logans church in USA and we will give Brasov a first class opportunity to be introduced to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. A lot of work, planning and prayer has gone into this please join us in prayer for this meeting July 13,14.
TRACTS
Chick tracts are a hit over here as they usually are everywhere.
We will go through a box of 1,000 on a normal street meeting. Add to this the
fact that I get out between 4-500 several mornings in an average week as I walk for
exercise. In an hour or an hour and a half I can distribute nearly 500 tracts in
hands, postal slots, and windshields. So, you can see that there is a constant need
for Chick tracts. I had an idea for a new Chick tract which would speak to the
problem of idolatry both in statues as well as pictures, both of which are a severe curse
upon this nation. I sent it to Jack Chick and he took it and made a tract called
Whats Wrong with this. It will be printed in English as well as
Romanian and maybe several other languages and will be in print in June or July of this
year. If anyone would like to purchase some of these new tracts specially designed
for us here in Romania
it would sure be of great help to us. Just let us know
how many you would like to buy and we will tell you what to have put on the back and where
to send them. Our snail mail and email address will appear at the end of this
letter.
VAN FUND
The fund set up to receive donations for our much needed van is
doing well. The last accounting showed right at $7,000. We would like to have
$15,000 before we go shopping for a van to accomplish all that we need it for and to be
road worthy in eastern Europe. All checks should be made out to WFTW Baptist Mission
and designated for the Romanian Van fund for Bro. Sutek. The address is
WFTW PO Box 849 Rossville, GA. 30741
PERSONAL
We have all adapted very well to this culture and are all hard at work for our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord has blessed us with great attendance in our four month old church and has given us great opportunities for outreach both in the city and villages surrounding. The Lord has also blessed us with a great house which can well accommodate any and all who would wish to visit us on the field. Come on over the fishing is great. Robin is enjoying having a home to care for. Mary is very busy with home-school, art and violin lessons, and her two dogs, one cat (outdoors only) and a bird. I am enjoying a different schedule from that I had for so many years on the road.
