"…terrible as an army with banners." Song of Solomon 6:4

ARMY OCCUPATION

It was the world’s ultimate party night, New Year’s Eve, and the world was out in force doing their thing in Austin, Texas with music, spirits, flesh and all the rest. Suddenly they came from all sides, twenty from this side street, 14 from another, a few just filtering in, many with scripture on their shirts, some with banners, accordion, but all with BIBLES, the army of the Lord began to possess the land of the enemy until they dominated the party area. There was a record ninety one of us from one church, the Capitol City Baptist Church in Austin, TX. Pastor Hank Thompson and I gathered the army to a large, blocked off intersection and we formed a circle entirely encompassing the intersection. We faced outward with the banners and the accordion in the center of the circle. We sang the Lord’s songs in contrast to the world’s music and this coupled with the presence of the Holy Spirit, preaching, Bibles, tracts, and strong personal witnessing served to occupy this former party area for righteousness. The opposition and resistance was minimal and the enemies of the Lord knew they were whipped and a few were captured by our Captain. The troops showed themselves strong for our Lord, some new recruits waxed bold and there were no casualties in the Lord’s army.

ON THE STREETS

We really enjoyed being on the streets in Austin, TX several times this month. This church has such a strong presence on their streets and the level of skill is very high. Scenic Hills Baptist Church from Austin and their pastor Gary Evans also joins us on the street in this great preaching city. The Word of God had free reign and uninhibited volume at a flea market in the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA. Pastor Andrew Saucier and his church joined the SWAT team for this great meeting. With no traffic noise and many folks remaining within ear shot for considerable time I came close to overdoing my opportunity. Pastor Saucier dealt with a teenage boy who showed true repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ a while later in the tourist section of the French Quarter. We had quite a few opportunities to preach while we were in Pensacola, FL. both at the local community college as well as downtown. If these average Americans are typical of our country’s spiritual temperature then we are in deep trouble. The events of September 11 may have served to cause folks heads to glance upward, but only for a moment. The apostasy and apathy toward the truth of the Word of God is displayed as strong or stronger than ever. Be not deceived by a "national revival" manufactured by the blind Charismatics, just be found faithful preaching His Word till we go out one way or another. I cannot find Biblical evidence where an atrocity or tragedy ever brought revival.

IN THE CHURCHES

We were greatly honored to minister in the following churches this past month. Scenic Hills Bapt., Pastor Gary Evans, Austin, TX., Bible Believer’s Bapt., Pastor Bevins Welder, Corpus Christi, TX., Bible Believer’s Bapt., Pastor Andrew Saucier, Meterie, LA., Victory Bapt., Pastor Tim Fellore, Milton, FL., and Capitol City Bible College, Pastor Hank Thompson, Austin, TX.

PERSONAL

All is well in the family except for a sniffle or two here and there. I will turn 57 in a couple of weeks and I thank the good Lord for amazing health, vigor, strength and opportunity with which to serve my Lord Jesus Christ. Robin is faithfully serving by my side and up to her eyeballs with homeschooling…latin, music, math, science, history, spelling, language, art, P.E., penmanship, and the discipline of fourth grade. Both of us are trying desperately to keep up with Mary Bethany as she continues to ace in all subjects albeit math is more hated and difficult for her. All of us are very excited to get our new set up on the road. We are selling the van that we tow and getting a 24 ft. enclosed trailer with a small car to drive up inside. This will give us the much-needed room for storage and living as well as another bedroom for guests who occasionally travel with us for training. Please pray that I will have the wisdom to handle such a rig on the road.

We continue to have need of nothing but your prayer...
