"She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,"   Proverbs 1:21

WHAT "WISDOM" DOES…MUST BE WISE

Good advise for the publick minister is to be found in Proverbs 1 and 8. Here the pulbick minister is told where to go, where to stand, the attitude to have and the words to say… (note "saying"). Note also that she goes to the chief place of concourse. Many publick ministers have asked me where to go in their small, not-much-happening communities. I know of some such communities where the "WISE" publick ministers go early in the morning many miles away to a big nuclear power plant. They hold signs and banners on the side of the road as the workers line up in their cars to go to work. Just this week I joined a small, but "WISE" band from a small community fairly early in the morning to meet the commuters waiting on busses. I have also been in a very rural community where we joined the "WISE" and simply held signs at the four-way stop sign to the few cars passing by per hour. It can be done if you are "WISE".

THE "TRYING" OF THE LORD

In Judges 7 the Lord is said to "try" the men of Gideon’s band "lest [they] vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me." Maybe the activity of the WEST COAST BLITZ was becoming too self sufficient and not depending upon the Lord. At any rate, I hope it was the Lord’s way of "trying" us by way of the great NY and DC atrocity. Our pared ranks still filled two full busses and some private cars to minister in San Francisco, Sacramento and Marysville, Yuba City, CA. Our 100+ strong army stole the attention away from the commerce and pleasure of this "present evil world" and caused many to think about righteousness and the Lord Jesus Christ, if only for a moment or two. We had at least one soul to receive the Lord and seven men preached for the first time, thus birthing a new generation of publick ministers to carry on should the Lord tarry. We did not notice any significant change in attitude (due to the NY atrocity) toward the gospel in the two larger cities but on Saturday when we went to the smaller towns we carried flags and some of the same folk who cussed at us last week were cheering us this week. Of course, in all this we did not compromise the message of salvation or the gospel. This was probably the best reception that I have observed for publick ministry since I began in 1968. We are certainly "not dismayed" (our theme for 2001 WC Blitz) with this national convention but are sorry for those who had planned to attend and could not. ON THE STREETS

This West Coast Blitz, although pared in numbers, afforded many to be on their local streets preaching the gospel from coast to coast. Many reports came to me concerning this nationwide activity. We are always thankful for those whom we can join with in standing for righteousness. We served with about 15 from pastor Rich Glen’s church in Portland, OR where we preached and held signs at a busy intersection near to his church. Of course the blitz afforded us many opportunities to preach in Sacramento’s K-street pedestrian mall. San Francisco found us on the Fisherman’s Wharf, as well as downtown. We flooded the small towns of Marysville and Yuba City, CA with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Finally, several joined me in ministry in front of a bus station in Daly City, CA.

IN THE CHURCHES

We were honored to minister in the following churches in the month of September. True Vine Baptist, Pastor Rich Glen, Portland, OR, Bible Baptist, Pastor Brad Weniger, Marysville, CA, and Tabernacle Baptist, Pastor Tony Newhouse, Concord, CA.

PLAYING YOUR PART

While praying for our great country and our great leaders, and for the victims of the great atrocities, why not pray that the Lord would show all of the publick ministers of our land what their part might be in this unfolding drama and pray for the courage to accomplish it once it has been revealed to them.

We continue to have need of nothing but your prayer...
