THIS YEAR ALSO
I must confess that I, along with most Bible believers, thought that the Lord surely would have returned before the year 2000 and here we are on the eve of 2001. I pray daily, either verbally, or in my heart, that His coming might be eminent. But at the same time we must keep our eyes and hands upon the work that has been set before us. Any publick minister today observes with despair the rapidly increasing apathy, and even revulsion displayed toward the publick preaching of the gospel from the sinner on the street . But, if the Lord tarries, and He just might, let us take heart for those without the wisdom of God and look to the opportunities this new year will afford us to "dig about it" by publickly preaching against sin, and "dung it" by living right before them and occupying for righteousness, and pray the Lord of the harvest will give us some gleanings for our labour. "And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down."
2001 AT A GLANCE
"Let us run with patience the race that is set before us" What a race we have this year! January finds the SWAT team in Florida with meetings from east to west across the top of the state. February and March takes us to TX, AR, OK and KS. April is dedicated to ministering in the state of Wisconsin. May begins the season of street preacher’s conventions with the Memphis, TN BLAST. We have FOUR (4) conventions available to any avid publick minister this year. Later in May we go all the way up the U.P. of MI. We minister in Ohio in June and part of July. Then we go to Amsterdam, Holland for the first-ever European Blitz. You are welcome to come. Just watch the newsletters and web site www.streetpreaching.com or call us for information. The last week in July affords us a new opportunity with the GREAT LAKES BLITZ in Brewster, OH. We plan to minister in Cleveland, Columbus and Akron, OH. August calls us to Oregon, and in September is the WEST COAST BLITZ #5 in Sacramento, CA. ON THE STREETS
Braving chilly winds and freezing rain, as, I’m sure many others of you have had to do this winter, we let the folks in Knoxville, TN. know that the Lord accepts only one acceptable sacrifice for sin. Pastor Mike Napier and his church are very consistent in their publick ministry there. Speaking of chilly winds, while sitting on the front of Spring City Baptist Church’s float preaching to the Santa parade at Lebanon, VA, I believe I was as cold as I have been in many a winter. Pastor Brent Logan and his faithful crew provided the true Christmas story right in the middle of all the vanity. Finally we made it into the warm south in New Orleans, LA. It had been 15 years since I preached in this city. Assistant Pastor Adam Trosclair preached with me on both occasions. We always spend the Christmas season with our long time friends in Pastor Hank Thompson’s Capitol City Baptist Church in Austin, TX. We enjoy ministering with them both in their church and on the streets of Austin, which affords several good places to preach to the multitudes.
IN THE CHURCHES
We were honored to minister in the following churches in December. Berea Baptist, Pastor Mike Napier, Knoxville, TN., Spring City Baptist, Pastor Brent Logan, Cleveland, VA., Bible Baptist, Pastor David Trosclair, LaPlace, LA. and Capitol City Baptist, Pastor Hank Thompson, Austin, TX. It was here that we helped an adult man named Robert to go forward at the invitation and receive the Lord as his saviour. Caleb Thompson had been laying the foundation for a year. I gently placed my hand on his shoulder during the invitation and said, "Robert, Christmas Eve would sure be a good time to get saved." to which he replied, "Let’s go". Praise God.
