They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. Deut. 32:17

SOCCER gods REIGN SUPREME

If you have ever entertained the thought that any publick minister on any occasion under any circumstance was a bit fanatical for their God, dump the thought immediately. Compared to what I experienced this month in Holland and Belgium at the Euro Soccer championship playoffs, the most zealous street preacher that I have ever seen is boring. The fans attending these soccer games have sacrificed themselves completely "unto devils, to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not" Weird hats, wigs, costumes, shoes, haircuts, horns, cheers, actions and reactions made us constantly remind ourselves that we publick ministers of Jesus Christ and God’s righteousness are considered the weird fanatics and they the normal. The pre-game parties ended in drunken arguments and sometimes riots. The price of tickets (some exceeding $100), the boring zero zero ties and the very high chance of your favorite gods losing makes one wonder what their gods have to offer.

I was honored to join five other Americans, a Dutchman (Niko Verhoff) and some German publick ministers in an effort to publish the gospel of the true God to these deceived heathen. The Dutchman put this together and did an excellent job of logistics. Chick publications donated 250,000 gospel tracts in several languages and we were hosted by veteran Netherlands missionary Jake Huussen.

I was able not only to be one of the street preachers in this operation and to be a part of the five souls that were saved (up until I left) but I was also able to train several faithful men in Bro. Huussen’s church in publick ministry. Thus leaving a legacy behind to carry on PM in years to come. The schedule was grueling and the public transportation was not fun but my spirit soared and my soul rejoiced at being counted worthy to be put into this ministry and be able to teach others.

We proclaimed the superiority of our God and warned of the loss that would come if the heathen continue in their deception in the following cities of Holland and Belgium. Eindhoven, Arnhem, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Waukeningen and Brussels. The train stations and stadium in these cities acted in funneling the masses of humanity within a few feet of us. The police in Holland did not once object and the heathen only rebuffed us so that we were virtually without resistance. Only in the Grand Plaza in Brussels, Belgium did the police close us down. This 10 acre bowl framed by most gorgeous architecture, open air cafes and filled with many hundreds of fans and tourists would make any veteran

publick minister lick his lips. Suspecting that the police might intervene here, we timed it just right. We soaked it down with tracts and then had a full 20 minute meeting with the full gospel being preached before the police informed us that for religious or political activities we would need a permit. We had already done the job and finished it well. Praise the Lord.

ON THE STREETS

June was a delightful month for our ministry. We joined a mini-blitz in Wilkes Barre and Scranton, PA with Lance Thomas, Jerry Hunt, Chuck Zander, Billy Eubanks and pastors Ray Purdy and Glen Spencer. We put nearly fifty folk on the streets of these cities and several souls were saved. On Memorial Day the village of Sweet Valley, PA had a parade in which Ray Purdy’s church entered a float. The men mentioned above walked behind with banners, scripture signs and tracts and this was followed up by the SWAT-mobile all shined up and blaring the gospel over the PA system to 85% of Sweet Valley’s residents lining the 1 ½ mile parade route. We will not have any blood of the citizens of Sweet Valley, PA on our hands. We also preached at a carnival in Brewster, OH, downtown in Akron, OH, to the Indian’s fanatics in Cleveland, OH and to many hundreds of souls musing at an arts and crafts festival in Lockport, NY.

IN THE CHURCHES

The team was honored to minister in the following churches this month. Living Word Bapt., Pastor Ray Purdy, Sweet Valley, PA, Brewster Bapt., Pastor Dave Widner, Brewster, OH., Missionary Jake Huussen’s church in Holland and First Bible Bapt., Pastor Scott Strobel, Lockport, NY.
